Here's an awesome video showing how licensing works and showcases a long list of web-sites just like this!

Great music and site Matt. This is a really awesome post! I had no idea so many people were doing this for free. How do you ever make any money or is this just a "free" passion type thing?

Hi Ray,

There are ways to make money off this type of deal: You could tell people to pay you for a special license on a song so they don't have to credit you. You could offer custom music services, and make money off advertising and donations.

I currently do not allow people a special license to use my work without credit as that's priceless to me. I make custom music but rarely do I get any work and most people want me to make them music for way too cheap. I get donations from time to time but it's rare, and adsense give me pennies a day despite 300+ visits a day.

Pretty much I make less than what I pay to keep this website up. That being said, I don't do this for profit, but for passion.
